Bryce Canyon, Utah:
Although the park is pretty small the sights speak for itself. What is Bryce Canyon? Attempts at description lead to paradoxes. Cave without a ceiling? Forest of stone? Even canyon is misleading since Bryce is carved by freeze-thaw cycles, not a river. A good share of the Park is covered with eroded shale that forms the mystical limestone hoodoos. These geological curiosities of claron limestone, sandstone and mudstone have an ancient history. The geology of Bryce Canyon began around the same time as the disappearance of the dinosaurs. Slowly over vast periods of time the landscape changed until it finally resulted in what you see in Bryce today. Navajo Loop and sunset point and/or Inspiration Point are definitely a must do in the park.
